How much does a concrete driveway cost in the Mankato area?
Price depends on square footage, how much old concrete has to come out, thickness, and access for trucks. A straight two-car replacement is a very different number than a long rural drive with a turnaround. We measure on site and give you a written number — no phone-guess pricing.
When can concrete be poured in Minnesota?
Roughly April through November in a normal year. Cold-weather pours are possible with mix adjustments and blankets, but the schedule fills fast in spring. Booking an estimate over the winter usually gets you an earlier slot.
How long before I can drive on it?
Foot traffic after about 24 hours, passenger vehicles after 7 days, heavy trucks and equipment after 28 days. We leave you specifics for your pour and the weather it cured in.
Will my concrete crack?
All concrete moves. The job of the contractor is to control where it cracks with proper base, correct thickness, reinforcement and a real joint layout, so movement lands in a saw cut instead of across the middle of your slab.
Do you tear out the old concrete?
Yes. Removal and haul-off is part of a replacement quote. Pouring new concrete over failing old concrete is how you get a new slab that fails on the old slab's schedule.
How do I care for a new slab?
Keep de-icing salt off it the first winter, use sand for traction instead, and reseal decorative and stamped work every couple of years. Plain flatwork mostly just needs the salt kept off.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes — approaches, aprons, walks and pads for local businesses, churches and institutions, alongside the residential work.

Is a concrete driveway better than asphalt?
For most homes in southern Minnesota, yes. Asphalt is cheaper up front, but it needs resealing every few years and usually a full replacement within 15 to 20 years. A concrete driveway costs more on day one and commonly lasts 30 years or more with little maintenance — and it handles our freeze-thaw cycles without the rutting and potholes asphalt is known for. We'll break down the real numbers for your drive at the estimate.
How much does sidewalk replacement cost?
It depends on how much has failed. A single cracked or heaved panel — the one creating the trip hazard — is a small job, and we can often replace just that section and blend it into the existing walk. A walk that is failing panel by panel costs less per square foot to replace as a whole run. We measure on site and quote both options when both make sense.
